  WHO We Are

Breakthru Life Church (in Weltevreden Park, Johannesburg,) is a family of believers who want to fulfill God’s purposes in our lives. We believe in a lifestyle of serving one another while honouring Jesus and yielding to the Holy Spirit. The Word of God (the Bible) is central to all we do and teach.

We are the base church for Foundation Ministries International, an apostolic network of churches that stretches beyond South African borders. We also partner with other like-minded groups to advance the Kingdom of God.

Our DNA

We have been called together by God into a lifestyle of serving one another, laying down our lives for one another in sacrificial deeds of service (1 John 3:16). Such a lifestyle calls for selfless giving, tireless serving, godly order and submission and a strong commitment to walking in the light with one another.

Acts 2:42-47 and Acts 4:32-35 provide us with an insight of the DNA of the early church. The DNA of a family gives it the 'looks' – the shape & size of the nose, the ears, even the toes! As the Breakthru Life Church family, what is our DNA?

 Covenant Relationships

God is a covenant making and a covenant keeping God (Genesis 15:9-19). Jesus   instituted the New Covenant with His blood (Luke 22:20) and whenever we take communion we are partaking in the covenant meal. As we meet with God in and through the sacrifice of Jesus, and you do the same, we also meet each other in the middle of a covenant transaction. Please note that we do not make a covenant, rather we affirm that we are members together of the New Covenant.

 Prayer

It is our conviction that only a work of the Holy Spirit can bring people into the Presence of God, to know, love and serve Him (John 6:44,65).

God is the initiator, and so we give ourselves to and encourage prayer and intercession as a Body, asking God to take the initiative in our lives and the lives of our neighbours, believers and unbelievers alike, be it in this city or any other nation in the world (1 Timothy 2:1-6).

 fELLOWSHIP

The ongoing nurture of genuine fellowship within the Church Body. Covenant members sharing their lives in mutual love, friendship, care, support and the sacrifice of time, energy, abilities and resources towards each other's greatest good.

(Acts 2:42-47, I John 3: 16, I Peter 4:8-10, Romans 12:9-13).

 Discipleship

The essence of the apostolic mandate is to make disciples (Matthew 28:16-20). The purpose of the proclamation of the Gospel in both word and deed stops short if all it seeks is converts. Disciples are followers, and are the product of instruction, training, correction, nurture, and even rebuke. The objective of discipleship is maturity in Christ (Colossians 1:28-29).

 Worship

Living in the Presence of God is fundamental to our lives. It is therefore inevitable that worship remains one of our core values. The Father seeks those who worship in spirit and truth (John 4:23), and our pursuit is an ever-increasing height and depth to our worship.

 THE WORD

The Scriptures are the foundation for our faith and belief, and, through the Spirit, is God's agent for transformation in our lives (11 Timothy 3:14-17, Romans12:1-2). For this reason the preaching, teaching, reading, studying, obedience and application of the Scriptures is our pursuit and practice.

 MISSION

The natural overflow and outflow of our life together will result in healthy  reproduction i.e. the spreading of the Gospel (Mark 1:17). We actively encourage and support, through our finances and in our going in person, outreach to both local and international fields, for the sake of the extension of the Kingdom (Acts 1:8, I Corinthians 16:1-3, Philippians 4:14-18).

The ministry of the Holy Spirit

The ongoing work of the Holy Spirit is essential in bringing us to conviction, repentance, sanctification and freedom (Galatians 5:16-25, Romans 8:1-17). We endeavour to submit our gatherings to the complete guidance and leadership of the Holy Spirit. His enabling and empowering results in the purposeful advancing of God’s Kingdom    (John 14:12-17, Acts 2).

Statement of FAITH

  • We believe in the plenary-verbal inspiration of the accepted canon of the Scriptures as originally given.

  • We believe in the Eternal Triune God.

  • We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, true God, and true man.

  • We believe in His sinless life, in His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death through the shedding of His blood on the cross. We believe in His bodily resurrection from the dead on the third day and His personal appearance to his disciples. We believe in His ascension into Heaven and in His personal return in power and glory.

  • We believe in the Creation, test, and fall of man, as recorded in Genesis; man's total depravity and inability to attain to divine righteousness apart from God.

  • We believe that for the salvation of the lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.

  • We believe in the necessity of Water Baptism for believers.

  • We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life and that the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a separate and distinct experience subsequent to salvation, providing for life and service through the endowment of power, the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the restored gift ministries of the ascended Christ.

  • We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

  • We believe in the necessity for all believers to celebrate the Lord’s Supper (Communion).

  • We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved to the resurrection of life and they that are lost to the resurrection of damnation.

  • We believe in the reality and personality of Satan and the eternal judgement of Satan and his angels.
